After celebrating Christmas at home, we headed to my parents’ house. We hadn’t been there since September so Damien was excited to be going to Mimi and Bapa’s. For the first few days we went out to eat with Kaeli and Jay, did last-minute shopping, walked around downtown Placerville (which is really cute), and even went to the snow (which is another post because this one already contains All the Pictures Ever.)
Here are some random pictures:
On Christmas Eve I put the boys in their semi-matching PJs (I was unable to obtain exact matching stripey PJs, although I admittedly only looked online because I live way too far from shopping, but I still think they looked pretty cute. Both sets are from Target.) Damien got to open one present, and unwrapped a Space Kit from Mimi and Bapa. It contained a book about space, an activity book, a collection of info cards, a poster, and a ‘telescope’ (-shaped photo viewer.) It has been well-loved ever since.
I tried to take some cute kid pictures in front of my parents’ Christmas tree, since I didn’t get any at home. Here was the best one of Rowen and Damien together:
And here’s the best one of just Rowen:
And finally, we attempted a family photo (I’m not sure why we thought that was a good idea) and this one was semi-successful. It even included Ripley:
Buuuut here are some outtakes:
We all went to bed and prepared for a bid day tomorrow.
On Christmas morning we woke up early and packed up the stockings and all the presents and headed over to Kaeli and Jay’s house, about an hour away. Kaeli had the house decorated so cutely and I’m glad we got a chance to see it! We opened stockings, made a delicious (and huge) breakfast, and then opened presents.
That afternoon we piled the kids and gifts into the car and drove up north to have Christmas with Dan’s family. I was exhausted and stressed and grumpy because Damien was exhausted and grumpy (and possibly stressed, I don’t know) but we managed to have fun in between Damien’s tantrum-y outbursts (and my bad luck to dump an entire plate of dinner into my lap at one point.) Dan’s cousins were up from Central California so Damien got to play with Nathaniel again, which was fun.
We stayed for approximately 24 hours until we had to go home and prepare for yet another Christmas at Dan’s dad and stepmom’s house. (See, when I said in this post we had a busy Christmas, I wasn’t kidding! But we stayed home for the last week before we were back in school, giving us some time to get stuff done. Like completely rearranging our house. Relaxing stuff like that.)
